Inclement Weather Planning
For West ISD, the decision to delay to close school is based on a number of variables including:

• Actual and projected snowfall
• Icing and wind-chill factors
• Ability of the bus fleet to transport students to the campuses
• Ability of teachers, staff, and bus drivers to drive to the campuses (specifically those who live outside the district)
• Assessment of city street and road conditions (specifically in the rural areas of the district)
• Status of power and heat to the campuses

School Canceled Again for Tuesday, January 27, 2026
In reviewing the most current weather reports and checking current and future road conditions, it appears the icy roads may melt a little this afternoon, but will refreeze overnight. Please remember, the district has many rural areas along with our in-town roads which vehicles and school buses would not be able to utilize to safely make it to and from school. 

With this news, West ISD will again have a full-day school closure period for Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Please note this school closure period includes all extracurricular activities, games, and practices scheduled for today, Monday, January 26, and Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Please note Coach Woodard is working on a new date for the West vs. Clifton basketball games for later in the week. 

In regards to the district's arrival time and school day plan for Wednesday, January 28 2026, the district will let everyone know the next steps via another Parent Square tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
