News from the University Interscholastic League (UIL)

Please make note that the UIL has updated their prohibited items list for all upcoming UIL baseball and softball games. The graphic to the left was sent to all school districts last week and includes pictures of the noise makers that are and are not allowed at all 2025-2026 games.

Also, please continue to abide by the guidelines of the new Texas Senate Bill (SB) 2929 from the 2025 legislative session, which empowers all UIL officials to immediately eject disruptive spectators from school sporting events without a prior verbal warning. This SB was put in place to help prioritize safety and better sportsmanship by preventing escalating fan behavior and protecting officials from abuse.

Trojan Table and Band Fiesta Dinners

The West Athletic Booster Club (WABC) has announced ticket sales for their big fundraiser dinner. Here's the link to purchase tickets: https://wabc.boosterhub.com/store/10721. The dinner is set for Saturday, January 24, 2026, at the KC Hall.
The Pride of West Band Boosters have announced ticket sales for their big fundraiser dinner as well. Here's the link to purchase tickets: https://www.zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/annual-band-fiesta. The dinner is set for Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Tour's Hall.

2026-2027 West ISD Scholastic Calendar

Thank a Trojan or Lady Trojan Staff Spotlight

This program is a fun, new way to honor a West ISD staff member. The district's hope is that students, parents, community members, and/or co-workers will send in nominations for this new Staff Spotlight honor. District Calendar Reminders:

Board Recognition Night: This Wednesday night, January 14, 2026, is Board Appreciation Night during the Regular January Board Meeting at 6:00 PM at the West ISD Administration Building. Our current Board Members are: Dr. Larry Sparks, Mike Gerik, Holly Willis, Justin Mechell, Laurie Tresl, Paul Vanek, and Natalie Kelinske. When you see them around town or at a district event, please let them know how much you appreciate them.
MLK Appreciation Day: This coming Monday, January 19, 2026, is a student and staff holiday in honor and appreciation of the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Progress Report 5: The last day of the next three-week grading period is Friday, January 23, 2026.
