Music
The West Elementary School music program specializes in the development of skills in listening, analyzing, and performing music. In the elementary grades, the most important thing about music is that students make their own. Music empowers children like few other things can, and transfers creative skills to every other aspect of learning. Throughout the school year, all students will participate and perform in a special, grade level music program. Each program is theme-based and usually aligned to a special recognition or holiday event. The students will also learn several features of theatre and dance as these programs also include some acting and speaking roles, as well as choregraphed dance steps. Instruments will also be included in many of the musical numbers.
